SOIL-NAIL RETAINING WALLS
Typically required where cutting into and retaining hillsides or very deep excavations. The process is a top-down construction of 1200 deep horizontal “bands” of shotcrete which have soil nails installed through the face of the wall. The soil nails act as passive anchors and rely on the soil around the nail to hold them in place. Each band of nailed shotcrete must be adequately cured before excavation for the next band underneath can proceed. The process of constructing each band of wall is repeated until the design toe level is reached.
